The Impact of the Various Technology tools you Encounter on the Teaching and Learning Process

So far during my journey as a teacher in training, I have been exposed to several forms of technology that have made learning various topics easier for me. I have also had the opportunity of using these and other forms of technology as part of micro teaching episodes I have conducted with my classmates and have had positive feedback from them as well.

As a mathematics teacher in training one of the most important tools I have been exposed to is a software known as GeoGebra. GeoGebra is an interactive, geometry, algebra, statistics and calculus application. it can be used to quickly and accurately produce graphical plots and mathematical diagrams, just to name a few. This is been useful for me so far as it saves the time it would have taken to draw these diagrams, time which can be put to better understanding and interpreting those diagrams. In a future classroom scenario, for example, once my students have been exposed to properly plotting graphs using graph paper I can employ the use of the software. Instead of wasting time and resources having them plot several different graphs for interpretation, I can have this done by the software and use those to examine the features I wish to have demonstrated.

I have not even begun to scratch the surface of how technology has impacted me, that would be too much to type here. I’d love to hear how technology has impacted the way you teach and learn though.

  1. Technology has advanced to giant steps that pierced us all we really need to upgrade to direct the youth of today who are native technological.
Many teachers are afraid to use technology that feel they can not control everything that students arrive to handle at one time. But that just means we need to update us and let the students learning to flow in, and not be a stumbling block for them.
As teachers we need to move the traditional methods to new methods where technology is integrated into the classroom.
